1. Drink a glass of water first. Sometimes our bodies confuse thirst and hunger. Research shows people who drink more water eat fewer calories.
2. Keep healthy snacks close, and skip buying the unhealthy options. Almonds, apples, celery, carrots, roasted pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds...can all satisfy hunger longer than sugar or carbohydrates. If you don't buy unhealthy snacks, it will be really hard to eat them!
3. Mood check - are you hungry, or is something else making you want to eat? If you are bored, stressed or sad try a short walk, listening to music or calling a friend before you snack. Your craving might disappear.
If none of these work - enjoy your treat. But REALLY enjoy it! Eat slowly and savor every bite.
