What is the DEO Clinic?
DEO is the Latin word for God. Originally founded in 2005 as The Dalton Episcopal Outreach Clinic, the DEO Clinic is a non-profit medical clinic staffed by volunteers and funded by grants, foundations, churches, and donations for the community. The clinic officially became an independent 501(c)-3 not-for-profit organization in 2012. The DEO volunteers provide respectful high quality health care to low income uninsured residents of Whitfield and Murray Counties in Northwest Georgia.

Where is the Clinic located?
The DEO Clinic is located at the Mack Gaston Community Center, 218 N. Fredrick St., Dalton, Georgia, 30721.

When is the Clinic open?
The DEO Clinic is open on Monday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Clinic services are by appointment only.

How can I help?
The DEO Clinic needs your help. Through the generous donations received by the clinic, we are able to provide life changing… and sometimes life saving medical services to persons who have limited financial resources and no insurance.  You can help by volunteering or making the DEO Clinic a part of your giving program. What services does the DEO Clinic provide?
DEO provides outpatient preventive and acute care, management of some chronic and long-term medical conditions, specialty referral, health education, and some prescription assistance. Services are provided primarily by licensed medical professionals who donate their time DEO patients.

What services are not available at the DEO Clinic?
The DEO Clinic does not provide the following services:

  • HIV & STD Screening
  • Drug testing
  • Paternity testing
  • Disability examinations
  • Obstetrics/Gynecology
  • Fertility testing
  • Routine immunization
  • Travel medicine
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • Emergency or major trauma services
  • Dental
  • Mental Health services
  • Pain Medications

What are the eligibility requirements?
Patients (ages 18-64) are required to be residents of Whitfield or Murray counties in northwest Georgia, not covered under The Affordable Care Act/Obamacare, Medicaid, Medicare, Liability Insurance (i.e. injuries from auto accidents), Workers Compensation Insurance or any other medical insurance provider. Patients must be able to show that their income is less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level and provide proof of residency in Whitfield or Murray counties. Guidelines may change from time to time based on resources and needs.

Does the DEO Clinic treat children?
No. Please use the services at the Health Department for children.

What does it cost to come to the DEO Clinic?
There is no charge for visits to the Clinic. We do not accept insurance. However, we do accept voluntary donations towards the cost of prescription medications or supplies. Patients may have to pay for medications not in our dispensary. If patients need special care, diagnostic testing, and laboratory tests that cannot be provided at the DEO, we will try to help you find the medical care you need. However, we cannot guarantee that it will be provided free of charge.

Are there any services available to non-english speaking patients?
We prefer that a bilingual family member accompany the patient for the eligibility and interview process, but the DEO Clinic does have several volunteers who are fluent in Spanish and English. Please call a week in advance if a volunteer translator is needed.

Are there transportation services available?
The DEO Clinic is unable to provide transportation.

What types of donations does the clinic need?
The DEO Clinic is a community supported medical clinic. We need contributions of time and talent from medical and non-medical volunteers, financial support for supplies and operations, paper products (tissues, toilet paper, paper towels) and medical supplies.
